The morning sun sneaked into Popeye's bedroom through a gap in the curtains. Popeye let out a mighty yawn and stretched his massive arms, sitting up on the edge of the bed. But as soon as he tried to stand, his body trembled. He staggered, his legs feeling as soft as if he were stepping on cotton.
Just as he was about to tumble, Olive Oyl rushed in, balancing a tray of delicious breakfast. She quickly reached out to steady him.

Popeye nodded and sank slowly back onto the bed. "I know it, Olive. I don't want to miss it either, but my arms and legs just won't obey me today. I’m truly curious, though—how do these ‘security guards’ inside us work? And how could they make a mistake and attack my own body cells like they were the bad guys?"
Right on cue, a knock echoed from the door. Professor Owl had arrived on time. Wearing his crisp white coat, he held a transparent glass jar filled with tiny, colorful particles. When he shook it gently, it made a soft rustling sound.
Professor Owl placed the jar on the table and beamed at the two friends. "Good morning, Popeye and Olive! Take a look at the particles in this jar. These represent the most loyal ‘security guards’ in our bodies: the immune cells."

"Don't let their size fool you; they are incredibly capable!" Professor Owl gave the jar another shake. "They patrol our bodies every single day, just like Popeye patrols the docks to keep everyone safe. These security guards are always on duty, stopping ‘bad guys’ like bacteria and viruses from bullying us."
With that, Professor Owl pulled out a magical tablet screen and pressed a button. A vivid animation sprang to life. On the screen, countless colorful particles—just like the ones in the jar—were zooming back and forth through winding tunnels (blood vessels). They looked exactly like guards on patrol.
Suddenly, several gray, jagged little monsters (bacteria) broke in. The colorful immune cells immediately snapped to attention. They swarmed the intruders, dismantling the gray monsters until they were completely gone.
Popeye clapped his hands, impressed. "Wow! Those security guards are amazing! They're almost as brave as me!"

He pointed to the healthy cells on the screen. "You see, every normal body cell has a unique ID card. When immune cells are on patrol, they see this ID card, recognize a friend, and know not to attack."
The scene on the screen suddenly shifted. In a close-up shot, a normal cell displayed a clear, shiny ID card. When the immune cell passed by, it seemed to nod a friendly greeting. But a moment later, a strange cell appeared. Its ID card was blurry and chipped. The friendly immune cells immediately changed their attitude. They surrounded the strange cell, assuming a combat stance.
Olive frowned as she watched. "Professor, why do the immune cells get confused sometimes? Is it because the ID cards are broken?"

Popeye listened closely, slowly raising his hand to touch his chest. "So that's it," he murmured thoughtfully. "My security guards have malfunctioned. That’s why they’re attacking my own cells, making my arms weak and my whole body tired. Professor, can we fix them?"
Professor Owl patted Popeye's shoulder gently. "Of course we can! As long as we find the reason for the malfunction—perhaps by adjusting your diet, ensuring you get enough sleep, and following the doctor's treatment plan—we can help your security guards get back to normal duty."
Popeye's eyes lit up, and he suddenly looked stronger. "That's great news! Professor, you have to tell us what else makes the immune system go wrong in the next episode. We want to prevent it ahead of time so my security guards can get back to work!"

Professor Owl picked up his glass jar and smiled. "No problem at all. In the next episode, we will uncover the secrets of the immune system's 'mistakes' together. Let's all become the guardians of our own bodies!"
